摘要语言是文系人与人之间友好交流的开端。之所以把英语作为国际上的通用语言,不仅是因为世界上大多数国家以它作为官方语言,更重要的是它可以缩短国与国之间的距离,使全世界人民能够共同友好的沟通交流与发展。随着时代的进步,社会多元化的发展,英语已经远远不能够满足人们开阔眼界的需求。因此,“小语种”逐渐受到人们的欢迎。中国大多数的大学都开设了除英语之外的第二外语的课程,供学生们学习,对于英语专业的学生来说也不例外。其中较为普遍的语言有日语,德语,法语等等。本文就英语专业的学生在日语学习中会受哪些因素的影响这一问题做定量研究。研究发现,在影响英语专业学生学习二外日语的因素中,有一部分是对日语学习产生积极影响的,而剩下的则是对日语学习产生消极影响。30088

Title    Research on the Influence of Studying Japanese for English Major Students                             
Abstract
Japanese course is taught in more and more universities in China. As for English major students, Japanese is a third language that they have to learn. The purpose of the present study is to find the positive and negative influence on Japanese study. It is an important point to find better strategies of learning Japanese for English major students. The research uses questionnaire to address the following research questions. Why do so many English major students want to learn Japanese? Which factors will affect Japanese study? The questionnaire is composed of 30 multiple-choices. The subjects of this study are English majors at Nanjing University of Science and Technology. They are learning Japanese as a second language. The conclusions are stated that these factors can be pided into two parts: positive influence and negative influence. Positive influence refers to the influence which can make Japanese study better. While negative influence refers to the influence which will block subjects’ Japanese study.

1 Introduction
With the progress of era and the development of persified society, English as one of the lingua francas can not satisfy people who want to broaden their horizon. Therefore, minority languages become more and more popular. Nowadays requirement to study a third language besides English for Chinese college students is increasing. The whole society, is concerned about communicating with foreigners. While Japanese is also taught by more and more countries which include China. The motives that drive students to learn Japanese are definitely different. Some are interested in Japanese. Some might have a goal to work for Japanese companies in the future. Others learn Japanese to travel in Japan. Whatever the motives might be, it is necessary for Chinese college students to study a third language beside English because of the persified communication around the World.
