摘 要写作是传递信息、表达情意的一种方式。英语写作在英语的学习中有着重要作用。本文首先分析了隐喻的定义和隐喻的具体运用，指出隐喻是一种艺术手段，使语言表达更生动形象，可以帮助人们借助已了解的知识去认知未知难懂的领域,更好地传递文章的精华。然后分析了隐喻的创造性在英语写作中的体现，本文最后重点阐述了如何培养隐喻思文以及如何恰当的将隐喻运用到英语写作中去，为英语写作增添美感和魅力。28546

Abstract Writing is a method used for conveying information and expressing feelings. English writing plays an indispensable role in English learning. This paper first discusses the definition of metaphor and the specific usages of metaphor and demonstrates that metaphor is an artful device, which makes one’s expression more vivid and helps people understand abstract objects by the understanding of known things. And then talks about the creativity of metaphor. Last but not least, the author attaches importance to the cultivation of metaphorical thoughts and gives some suggestions to help students apply metaphor to their English writings in order to add aesthetic effect and charm to their writings.

On the Application of Metaphor in English Writing
Ⅰ. Introduction
English writing can be broadly interpreted as a planned activity that is intended to improve students communicating abilities. The aim of English teaching is to improve five basic skills of students, that is, listening, reading, speaking, writing and translating. There are various kinds of efforts to improve students’ English writing abilities. The present paper is mainly concerned with application of metaphor in English writing.
Metaphor makes language expressions vividly. There are mainly two advantages in learning rhetoric. First, learning metaphor helps one improve the abilities of language expressions and finish the task of language communication successfully. Secondly, learning it helps us understand others’ articles correctly. On the other hand, it improves our reading comprehension abilities. Metaphor is in every aspects of our life. Each of us should spare no effort to learn it. Only in this way can we apply metaphor to our English writing.
It is well-known that metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase that ordinarily designates one thing is used to designate another, thus making an implicit comparison
  Although lots of students and teachers have realized the significance of the proper application of metaphor in English writing, they don’t have a systematical knowledge of metaphor. Therefore, they have a limited ability to apply it to English writing. This study ,focusing on the analysis of metaphor, helps students and teachers to have a clear understanding of how to apply it in a right way.
