A Study of the Effects of Narrative Interventions on Story Retelling Among Junior Middle School Students

Abstract

Narratives, regarded as utterance productions about an event, story or experience, play an important role in later academic achievement, especially for young children. Therefore, narratives should be the direct target of language intervention for young children. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of narrative intervention on story retelling among junior middle school students. Besides, this study also discussed whether there was a difference between the participants’ pre-intervetion and post-intervention on narrative macrostructure and microstructure features. 3 participants who were randomly selected by the author from Caihe experiment school took part in the experiment. They received 30-minute inpidual intervention sessions three times a week. And the experiment took totally three weeks. All the narratives were recorded. Data were collected and analyzed according to a multiple-baseline design. The result of this study showed that narrative intervention may have effect on the developmen of narrative skills among junior middle school students. And there was a slight improvement on the functional use of narrative macrostructure and microsturcuture. 58206

关于叙述干预对初中生复述能力影响的研究

摘要叙述作为一种对事件、故事和经历的描述对学生后期学业有着重要的影响。因此叙述干预的应用对学生的语言学习来说是及其必要的。本文研究了叙述干预对初中生复述能力的影响,同时也深入讨论了叙述干预对复述的宏观结构和微观结构的影响。本实验中3名随机挑选的参加者,参加了为期三个星期的实验。在实验中,他们进行了为时30分钟的叙述干预活动。实验中的叙述干预活动每周进行三次,共计进行了9次叙述干预。参加者的故事复述全部以录音形式保存。所有的数据收集和分析都基于此。实验结果表明,叙述干预对这三位参加者的复述能力有不同程度的提高。另外,根据数据可分析得出,就复述的宏观结构和微观结构看,参加者也有了轻微的提高。
