ABSTRACT Marriage is the foundation of the family, and it has important meaning in the social relationship. It is an important way to study the cultural differences between different countries from the perspective of their different cultural backgrounds. The marriage in China has a close relationship with its long history. And The American marriage view is a typical representative of the western marriage. The different philosophical views of the central concept caused the different views of marriage. Americans focus on inpidualism. They pursue freedom and equality in marriage. Chinese people pay more attention to interpersonal relationship. So they have a stronger sense of responsibility and family values in marriage. So it is important to study the differences between Chinese and American marriage.46373
This thesis focuses on the comparison and analysis of the differences between Chinese and American marriage from the perspective of Modern Family and The Wedding Banquet. Firstly, from the perspective of the custom, I compare and analyze the differences between Chinese view of marriage and American view of marriage from four terms such as the purpose of marriage, the standard of spouse selection of marriage, the wedding ceremony and the relationship between spouses. In addition, from the perspective of the spirit, this thesis also provides analysis and generalization of the different origin and development of Chinese views of marriage and American view of marriage.

摘要婚姻是构成家庭的基础，在社会关系中有着重要意义。对不同文化背景下人们婚姻观差异的解读是研究不同国家文化差异的一个重要途径。中国婚姻观与其源远流长的历史有着密不可分的关系。而美国婚姻观是西方婚姻观典型的代表。因其哲学中心观的不同，也造成了中国婚姻观和美国婚姻观所表现出的内涵有差异。美国人注重个人主义。他们更加追求自由平等的婚姻关系。中国人注重人和人之间相互依存的关系。所以他们在婚姻中拥有更强的责任感和家庭观念。所以研究中美婚姻观差异有其重要的意义。
本文以电影摩登家庭和喜宴为例对中国婚姻观与美国婚姻观的差异进行了对比与分析。首先，从文化内涵的角度对中美婚姻观中结婚的目的，结婚对象的选择，婚姻中的夫妻关系和结婚仪式这四方面进行了对比与分析。接着，从精神内涵的角度，对比分析了中美婚姻观中所体现的不同思想价值体系。
