摘 要颜色词作为语言的一种重要表现形式，不仅反映出一个民族对自然的理解，同时也展现了一个民族的世界观和不同的文化内涵。英语和汉语拥有着丰富的颜色词，颜色词作为人类经验的重要组成部分，一直是语言学研究的重点。但大多学者是从其构造和语义层面进行研究，鲜有人触及其背后的认知机制。因此，本文在认知语言学的框架内，以原型理论，隐喻和转喻为理论基础，以英汉颜色词中的黑、白、红等颜色词为例，比较分析英汉两种语言中颜色词认知语义结构的共性和个性，并分析其原因。认知是人类共有的属性，而颜色词也是人类共有的，所以对英汉基本颜色词的认知语义分析就能使我们更加明确这两种颜色词认知方面的异同。同时也能使我们更好的理解原型理论，隐喻和转喻理论。36961

Abstract
Color terms, as an important manifestation of language, not only reflects a nation’s understanding of nature, but also shows a nation’s view of the world and different cultural connotations. English and Chinese have rich color terms, color terms as an important part of the human experience have always been the focus of linguistic research. Most scholars do researches from its structure and semantic level, few people touch the cognitive mechanism behind it. Thus, under the framework of cognitive semantics, based on the prototype theory, metaphor and metonymy, this study analyzes the cognitive semantic structure of English and Chinese color terms such as black, white, red. The similarities and differences of the basic color terms are analyzed and a brief summary is made as for the causes of these similarities and differences. Cognition is human’s common property, and color terms are also common to the human, so the cognitive semantic analysis of English and Chinese color terms can make us more clearly understand the similarities and differences between these two kinds of color terms, as well as the prototype theory, metaphor and metonymy.

I. Introduction
Color terms reflect the traditional habit of different nations, distinguish their different meanings in Chinese and western culture which is helpful for cross-cultural communication. Color terms as a kind of symbol in English and Chinese languages have different purpose and cultural value (Luo 19-22). Analyzing the cultural meaning of English and Chinese color terms can help people understand its bearing cultural information, effectively carry out cross-cultural communication, strengthen the integration between Chinese and English culture. Since then, the abroad study of color terms has achieved many valuable results.
