摘 要 词汇是英语学习的基础,英语学习者总是抱怨记不住那么多单词,尤其是高中生,在短时间内有效地记忆单词是英语教学中的重要任务。词根词缀记忆法是一种科学的记忆方法,分解单词的基本结构,了解单词的造字规则,具有趣性和规律性,可在短期内扩大词汇量。本文采用实证研究的方法,探讨应用词根词缀记忆法于高中英语词汇教学的有效性和可行性。笔者与授课教师在高中进行了为期两个月的实验,发现实验班的成绩明显高于控制班的,学生对于英语词汇学习的态度大大转变。通过本次研究,笔者得出结论:对于高中英语词汇教学来说,词根词缀记忆法是有效地,它不仅帮助学生有效地记忆单词,而且提高了学生学习词汇的兴趣。36522

Abstract Vocabulary is the foundation of English learning. English learners, especially senior high school students, always complain that they can not remember so many vocabularies. Memorizing words effectively in a short time is an important task in English teaching and learning. As a scientific memory method, root and affix mnemonic break the given words into parts, which help us understand the rule of English vocabulary making. It is an interesting and regular method to enlarge students vocabulary in a short time. This research adopts the way of empirical research to explore the effectiveness and feasibility of the application of root and affix mnemonic in senior-high-school English vocabulary teaching and learning. The author and the teacher conduct this research in one senior high school lasting for two month, finding that the grades of experimental class is higher than the controlled one obviously and the students’ attitudes towards English vocabulary learning changed greatly. Through this study, the author may come to an conclusion that root and affix mnemonic is feasible to the senior-high-school English vocabulary teaching and learning. It could not only help students memorize effectively, but also enhance students’ interest in vocabulary learning.

Ⅰ. Introduction
    British linguist Wilkins pointed out that without grammar, very little can be conveyed, without vocabulary, nothing can be conveyed(111). Vocabulary, as a necessary part of English, can be considered as the foundation of learning a foreign language. A large number of English learners, especially senior high school students, complained that they had invested a considerable amount of time and energy in learning vocabulary, but the result was not like what they had expected. For one thing, they strive to recite new words, for another, they forget them quickly, which makes them very dispirited. Neither students nor teachers know how to solve the problem. A student’s vocabulary directly affects his/her enthusiasm for English learning.
