Abstract
Reduplication, the carrier of beauty in sound, sense and sentence structure, is a conventional rhetorical device of language, adding charm to literary works with the melodious pattern and artistic value. Due to the disparities between Chinese and the West, the translation of reduplicated words, is a hard nut to crack, turning it an inexhaustible topic in the translation field, insightful for the comparative study between English and Chinese as well as the study of culture communication.
Based on the significance discussed above, this paper focuses on how to translate Chinese reduplicated words into English from the aesthetic perspective. Translation aesthetics is usually considered to be the right theory for translating Chinese reduplicated words, which enjoy unique aesthetic features in both lexicon and syntax. This paper, under the principles outlined in the theory and with the case analysis of a variety of examples, makes a probe into the basic translation strategies of Chinese reduplicated words, in order to achieve the desired effect in both translation and culture exchange activities.

1 Introduction
As the most important tool of human communication, language involves not only the various expressional symbols in exchange, but also acts as the medium for conserving and transmitting human civilization. Generally, each nation has its own language. Chinese is a kind of logogram which expresses both meaning and pronunciation. Chinese words are emotional that people could know the meaning according to subtle tones changes and phonological changes. Unlike the complex changes such as plurality, part of speech, rhetoric and tense in Indo-European languages, Chinese vocabulary only has one form and most of morphemes are monosyllabic. Thus Chinese is flexible in word formation in which compound words are in the majority besides single-morpheme words. And reduplicated word is one of the forms of compound words. The reduplication of words is an ancient rhetoric in China which has a long history. It can be tracked back to the Airs of the States from the Shijing. The writer applied “夭夭”, “忡忡”, “趯趯” to describe delicate and complicated affection and beautiful natural scenery, which plays dramatic artistic effect. Nowadays, reduplication of words still has vitality in modern Chinese. It is not difficult to find that Chinese often repeat words– a phenomenon known linguistically as reduplication in classical poetry, prose and even in daily conversation. For instance, the most familiar reduplication is 谢谢 – thanks. Reduplicated words are commonly used in Chinese. Nouns, verbs, numerals, quantifiers, adjectives, adverbs can all be used as reduplicated words. They have compact rhythm and strong expressiveness. The language in literature works becomes concrete and vivid through the application of reduplicated words. 英文论文汉语叠词的英译:http://www.751com.cn/yingyu/lunwen_3315.html
