摘要数学中的特征线法是求解偏微分方程的一种方法，适用于准线性偏微分方程的求解。只要初始值不是沿着特征线给定，即可通过特征线法获得偏微分方程的精确解。 其基本思想是通过把双曲线型的准线性偏微分方程转化为两组常微分方程，再对常微分方程进行求解。两组常微分方程中的一组用于定义特征线，另一组用以描述解沿给定特征线变化。10224

Abstract
In mathematics, the method of characteristics is a method of solving
partial differential equations. It applies to quasi-linear partial
differential equation. As long as the initial value is not given along the
characteristic line, the exact solution of partial differential equations
can be obtained through the method of characteristics. The basic idea is
transform  the quasi-linear hyperbolic partial differential equations
into two sets of ordinary differential equations, and then solve the
ordinary differential equation. A set of ordinary differential equations
of the two groups are used to define the characteristic line, the other
group are used to describe the change of the solution along the given
characteristic line.

偏微分方程的兴起已有两百多年的历史了，由起初研究直接来源与物理与几何
的问题发展到一个独立的数学分支，内容庞杂，方法多样。偏微分方程讨论的问
题不但根植于物理、力学、生物、几何和化学等学科的古典问题，而且在解决这
些问题时应用了现代数学的许多工具。
基于上述历史现状，本文主要在于研究双曲型方程的特征理论，双曲型方程
是描述振动或波动现象的偏微分方程。它的一个典型特例是波动方程和 n=1
时的波动方程。可用来描述弦的微小横振动，称为弦振动方程。这是最早得
到系统研究的一个偏微分方程。我们知道求解数学物理方程有三种典型的方法：
分离变量法、行波法（特征线法）以及积分变换法。而行波法即特征线法主要适
用于求解无界区域内的波动问题，是求解偏微分方程的一种方法，适用于准线性
