Friedrich Wilhelm Frobel, a educationist of Germany, thinks: " The game is the characteristic of children's activities. Through the game, children's inner activities and inner life become independent, autonomous. And children can get happiness, freedom and satisfaction, and maintain the balance of the inner and outer. Children's game is often accompanied by the expression of language, which is beneficial to children's language development."Not only that, practice at home and abroad have shown that scientific use of game in teaching will be great benefit to teaching. 

In recent years, English courses are offered from the first grade in primary school, so the game has been widely used in the classroom teaching, especially the combination of multimedia, games usage increases greatly. Therefore, in English teaching, especially in the primary school, and the lower grade, the game teaching is particularly important.

2. The Definitions of Related Concepts

2.1 The Definition of Game

When it comes to the game, it is a popular vocabulary among the  primary school students. In my opinion, all the children love games. So what is the game? Different people have different understandings of the game and some people think that the game is a variety of activities with rigorous structures  and  rules. Some people think that the game is a kind of activity or pastime, that is to say the game is a kind of play.  In the modern Chinese dictionary, game is interpreted as "entertainment" which contains two aspects: (1) the intellectual game; (2) the active game.  According to Cihai, the definition is that it must involve in the participation and interaction, and the main purpose is to obtain pleasure. This indicates that one of the basic characteristics of the game is to get physical and mental pleasure. 2.2 The Definition of Teaching Game

The game has a certain cultural characteristics and educational characteristics. Teaching game is a type of teaching activity that takes place in the teaching and it closely depends on the teaching aims. It generally refers to the classroom teaching games, is a series of games into English classroom teaching, to enable students to acquire new knowledge in the game. “In the primary school, English teaching game should not only play the role of ‘complement’ and ‘adjustment’, but be an important and indispensable teaching activity in primary school English teaching.”(Cui Danyang,2014: 266) We should know that not all the games can be applied to teaching and only those who are called "teaching game" can be directly and widely applied to the teaching activities of the school. 

“What are games in an EFL/ESL environment? The answer given by the Longman Dictionary of Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics is: A game in language teaching is an organized activity that usually has the following properties: a. a particular task or objectives; b. a set of rules; c. competition between players: d. communication between players by spoken or written language.”
