From a literary point of view, the image is the unit of translation. When we analysis the various aspects of literary works, we can find that the meaning, structure, landscape, all of which contain image. The image is the product development of poetry to a certain degree. Tang poetry is the gem of Chinese culture, and images are indispensable in the passing from generation to generation. The image of the Tang poetry as a symbol of culture has deep root in the Chinese history, which shows the rich cultural meaning and unique and profound significance of association. It shows the essence of Chinese culture at the same time, increasing the difficulty of translation of poetry of language and cultural exchanges. The translation of Tang poems, if can not prominent expression of cultural intention, the reader may lost or misunderstood the original poem cultural significance, even if the target language more beautiful, though let a person feel people attempt in an ineffective solution. 

2. Literature Review

Basnet thinks, “Translation is not a pure language behavior, it is deeply rooted in the culture of the language”, and “translation is not the text in the conversion between two languages, but between the text and the text and the process of negotiation.” (Basnet,2002). When it comes to the language and the relationship between translation and culture, she believes that language is the cultural body within the heart. when processing the text ,the translator can not isolate the culture from the text, like a surgeon does a heart operation without ignoring the skin around. Therefore, language and culture are interdependent on each other, language is not only a part of the culture, but also the carrier. The relationship between language and culture is so close that the translation and culture are closely related. In the book translation history and culture written with Lefevere , Basnet discusses the specific meaning of the concept of Cultural Translation: “first, the translation should take culture as the unit of translation, and should not remain in the previous discourse. Second, translation is not only a simple decoding process, more important is a process of communication. Third, the translation should not be limited to the original text description, but in the text of the target culture functional equivalence. Fourth, the different historical period have different translation principles and standards. But in the end, the principles and norms are made to meet the different needs.” （Basnet and Lefevere，2001）. Translation is to meet the needs of different groups of cultural. The culture as the unit of translation view breaks through the traditional concept of translation studies, and text in the source language can play the same function in the target language. Translation as a process of communication, include the cultural internal communication and the cultural exchanges. Therefore, the translation of the text itself represents a kind of culture, the functional equivalence, Basnet pointed out: “the translation text play or bear its function in the target culture should be consistent with the way of the original text in the source language where culture has played or assume the function the way.” She believes that to achieve the translation theory of functional equivalence in translation, one should take into account the service object, namely the text reader and consider the original text in the original language and what does the culture function. On the relationship between translation and translator, Basnet also has his own unique insights. She writes in the book translation, history and culture that translation is a text or the marriage between two different language background, both of them live in harmony .In the process of translation, the translator has two choices, one is the translation to the original author and the level of the culture of the target language, anther is to see more, then let the original to adapt it.
