This paper is going to lead you into the world where one is not restricted by any earthly stuff and help one probe into the world where everything is possible. In the fast-pacing society, it is easy to be troubled by all the seemed important things and easily get lost, and the research into the novel can be much helpful in bringing back the innocent childhood memories and inducing people to think about the most primal question: who am I? What’s more, it is a great opportunity to put what one have learned into practice through a detailed analysis of this book and improve the appreciation skill and the ability to think through looking into the book.

Different people studied the novel from different perspectives. In 1999, Fan Shu, who studied the book from the perspective of humor, pointed out that humor lies in the following three aspects: one is that the stories in the novel is of fantastic imagination, namely, it is a world where you can grow extravagantly big or small. The other aspect of humor showed itself in the way of telling, that is to say, the techniques of using mistake on purpose. Lastly, Fan believed that humor language also exist in the using of pun and the letter games where the pronunciation is very similar while their meaning differ so greatly such as names of subjects in mock turtle’s school.(1999:71)

Furthermore, in 2010, Liu Wen discussed the novel from the angle of its figures of speech, that is, the techniques of using cohesion. He pointed out that the cohesive devices contribute greatly to an easier understanding of the novel. Those devices included reference, ellipses, conjunction and lexical cohesion. Thus it can be proved that Carroll has a good command of language handling and competitive logic ability. Those techniques make the story novel but logical. Maybe one tends to believe that all these plots are fantastic and bold, but once linking them together with the help of those devices, one can find that the design of plot is rather reasonable. (2010:9)

In the same year, Weng Youzhi, discussed the image of Alice in his article: Alice’s Image in the New Version of the film Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (2010:108). He pointed out that this movie adopted from the novel worth studying too in the character’s personality-shaping. It is easy to lose self-identity when one grows up, so is Alice. When the adult Alice falls into the rabbit hole again, the most basic question comes back again. Who are you? Creatures in wonderland believe the past Alice that they know has gone. “You are Alice, but not exactly” This is truly thought-provoking. These points are coherent with the opinions in this paper. The older one is, the more likely one tends to lose the most precious thing in the world. For example, the carefree happiness, the childhood innocence and the freedom to do things at one’s own will.

Li Jiaxin, from Suihua Foreign Language Department, discussed this novel about its fairy-tale perspective and the reality perspective in his work: the general research into the fairy-tale and reality of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (2013:08). In this article, it was noted that the aspect that relates to reality lies in the novel can be seen as an escape from secular trouble and back to the childhood innocence and kindness. It was especially evident in the movie version that when Alice grow up, she faced the marriage issue under the pressure of her family and the afterward adventurous experiences could be seen as a chance to be oneself again. Thus the book means a lot in the inspiration of seeking for the original identity and freedom.

Although Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has been studied by many other scholars, there is still room for further exploring. Literature is called literature not only because of its special and fantastic story-telling but also because it evokes some deep-buried emotions among different persons. Everyone can have its own interpretation and understanding. Alice’s Adventures in wonderland is such a book that I am very interested in. I hope this thesis can do some contribution to further enrich the field of this study by illustrating my point of view through explorations. 英文论文《爱丽丝梦游仙境》(3):http://www.751com.cn/yingyu/lunwen_35549.html
